It costs nothing to travel up to the top of this building, 2 floors above the Observatory (which does cost money), to have a drink in the bar. Factors to consider are the John Hancock Tower Bar and the tilt vs the Skydeck- WIllis Tower. I love that you don't even have to leave the building on a crummy day because there is a cafeteria/ coffee bar downstairs. If the weather is even slightly bad, it's much worse right around this area with the strong winds. There is of much info about the building and the view. GET THE LATEST FROM THE SIGNATURE ROOM Take the lift to the 96th floor. The tilt is just one of the best parts - there's a bar! If you don't want to go upstairs for an even floor, the "trick" is to take the elevator up to an odd floor, let the doors open, and then hit the even floor that below it that you want to go to.So I work here in the upper-40s floor area. You can not reserve the window seat but once you there you can wait for one ... you can put the request for the window in the message when you make the reservation. Photo Gallery If you can go on a weekday there were no line at all to get to the top. Super professional security, elevators feel a bit shaky. It was bustling with activity, as it was 5:00PM. We enjoyed mimosas from Bar 94 while walking the floor taking in the views.

It really let you appreciate the aesthetic nature of the structure.Nice view from the top .. if you can afford to eat at the restaurant at the top .. its an amazing view and the food is pretty good but pricey. I work here and especially when it's decorated for Christmas I feel like I'm working in the same building as the dad from Adventures in Babysitting. You need full body protection - your umbrella is useless.This building is pretty damn impressive. Compare that to Sears where you have to stay in line for quite a long time. The John Hancock is closer to the water than the Sears Tower(now called the Willis Tower) so the views are far better. My space halfway up is so amazing that I can't even imagine what it's like up there. There you can see the 19th-century Trinity Church's granite and sandstone, reflected in the Hancock's smooth blue glass -- a happy meeting of old and new.Standing shinny and tall.
