Fortunately, Zack pulls Ray out of the way from the rains of bullets. Remembering Zack, Ray regains her resolve and manages to break through Gray's illusion, which shocked the reverend.

With their oath formed, Ray told Zack to break the wall between him and the room behind it, reuniting him with Ray. He was Rachel Gardner's counselling doctor. Danny then reappears behind Zack, pointing the gun to his head while Ray points hers from the front. However, as Zack never experienced kindness before, he found the old man's kindness confusing and irritating, and even tried to kill him due to his inability to comprehend it. Danny's attempts do not work, however, and Ray asks to go home to her parents, who are "in Hell" according to Danny. Ray then requests him to kill her, something that disgusted Zack.

His comment triggers a flashback for Ray, resulting in her paralysis. Danny pins a pleading Ray to the operating table, the former continuing to obsess over her eyes and memory of why things are happening. While finding out the exit of the building is at B2, more precisely at Gray's church, they return to Ray's room to pick up her handgun, but is surprised to find Danny once again has gone missing, meaning that he is still alive.

This enraged Danny who begins spouting his obsession for her eyes, but Zack dismisses this and reveals that Ray wants him to kill her so Danny doesn't get to decide what's going to happen to her. As Ray is already too weak to move, Zack enters the keycard himself, but he enters it the wrong way, causing the card to break.

This activates a Gatling gun to shoot at them. Ray collapses from the side-effect of the poison while asking Zack if she's being useful, to which Zack answers that she's done more than good. Her mother heads into another room and Ray follows her to ask about the puppy, finding her mother hiding something in a drawer, mumbling how she would kill her father with a "secret weapon". Zack refuses to play into Cathy's hand, but also disagrees with Ray's suggestion that she'll inject them both to herself since she may die and he won't be able to get out.

Hoping the one banging the window is Zack, Ray blocks the door using the sofa in her room and brings out the knife just in case it's someone else. Later, when Zack hears an engine sound and unable to bear the cold water, he went back to the room where it has the cracks that Ray went in.

He was eventually found by the reverend, Abraham Gray, who offered Zack the chance to stay in the abandoned building prepared by him as the master of the floor B6.

When Danny questions why Rachel isn't in despair as he has stolen away her oath with Zack, Ray affirms that her oath with Zack is something only between the two of them, and thus cannot be stolen away by anyone even if it's not fulfilled. He is chaotic, quick to anger, and doesn't hesitate to use foul language in any given situation.
Eddie, now without the darkness to help him escape, is powerless against Zack, resulting in Zack killing the boy. Gray then reveals that Danny was the one who lures her and he has the medicine that Ray needs for Zack. He tells her not to do things half-heartedly and questions what she actually wants from him.

Shocked to see Danny still lives, Zack then learns that Danny has prepared a safety measure to block Zack's attack and hid fake bloods to fake his death after having anticipated Zack would chase after Ray to B5. His whole body is covered in bandages which are used to hide his burned skin. Ray finally admits that she is confused about why she only wants Zack to kill her but can only think it's the oath made to God. During the ride, Ray asks Zack if she is being useful to him, and Zack replies that she's a little bit useful. This in turn makes Zack wonders why he is so bothered by it.

He was born in a poor and abusive family as he never received any sort of education, resulting him unable to read nor write. Arriving at B4, Ray asks if Zack knows more about the building, but Zack didn't as he only came after someone told him he can kill whoever he wants in his old floor.

While he at first only wanted to keep the promise between them because he has vowed to never lie, Zack begins to genuinely cherish the oath he made with Ray not only for himself but also for Ray's sake.
