They get a lot of flack from the older generation of metalheads (I know I was one that use to bash them all the time). This guy is the definition of a modern guitar god and his solos are some of the most badass and ear-pleasing solos that I have ever heard. Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, and Trivium are amazing as well. Our kids and our kid's kids can listen to Disturbed years into the future, and still enjoy them. they have helped me wright my hit song Alpacca WArs. Give their song "Into the Mouth of Hell We March" a listen.Nobody can compare to Trivium's combination of brutality, melody, and instrumentalism. I'm a huge Opeth fan, but they have gone progressive rock now (which I love as well) for the past 10 years so I can't really consider them modern metal, but those two bands (I would add mastodon as well) have done more for metal than any of these blast beat emotionless growl nonsense that's taken metal by the balls. Sepultura have been a band for 36 years, but their inclusion here is mostly due to one of the most creative and fertile periods of any metal band ever from 1989 to 1996. These guys are doing what a lot of metal isn't doing nowadays: being creative. VOICE OF HOWARDS JONES (lead singer) AND ADAM DUTKEWITZ (lead guitarist).This is one of the best bands to see live! Theyve done more to shake things up in the genre In my opinion. Both are metal but slipknot is closer to death metal and A7X is closer to thrash metal. Are you kidding me? Sinister gates solo on The stage (song) is one of my all time favorite guitar solos in any genre.

They're heavy, they have grooves, their lyrics are meaningful and intelligent, they shred and basically, they just rock.
Anthems for a new generation. Crack the skye is my favorite album just because some of the songs are so filled with riffs and epic drumming, their early stuff I also dig but but I think the prog root they went down with on crack the skye is the best. Tool is on a whole new level. Even though they are on a temporary hiatus since 2010, they still prove to be one of the greatest metal bands of all time. What other band today has done that to their scale?Slipknot is real heavy metal and Avenged Sevenfold is not. Theyâre probably the best modern thrash band in my opinion. You really need to listen to Godspeed Hellbound and In this River.These guys should be in the top ten for the riffs alone! These guys deserve to be way bigger.Unique sound. His feel? Still, this wouldn't hold the band back. Iron Maiden brought needed melody to metal. Bath He has the skill and will be top 50 of all time. Why? On par with Slipknot.
Their riffs are so damn good, their singer is just amazing, every member of the band is really good at what they do, their songs are just so awesome, atmospheric, and aggressive, and they have never released a bad album or done anything wrong. From the rapid fire drums from the Rev (RIP Jimmy) to the upbeat kicks by Wackerman or the melodic yet sharp melodies from Synyster Gates to the harsh and clean vocals of Matt Shadows, Avenged Sevenfold definitely deserve more love and the number one spot on this list.
Not saying they're bad but they don't really belong on this list.They were nu metal band at their beginning (Hybrid Theory). Their guitar work is incredible. I will say however, Draiman is the best singerout of all these people on the list, he is and will be my favorite and is top ten of all time.
