This, while it is one of my favourites on the new record, it is also one of the more depressing songs on the new album, what did you think of the subject matter/ is there a message to it?It's about a girl with a coke addiction and his personal substance addiction.Paris becomes a metaphor for this period of the narrator's life, as in the 1942 film Casablanca ('we'll always have Paris').Not sure there is a message, it's a nostalgic song about a girl and a drug habit, which The 1975 conveys in typically relatable fashion.first heard it and i thought it was a love song about taking someone to paris again then i read the lyrics....not necessarily depressing but it's very melancholic and dark especially the line: "you're walking overdose in a great coat" song gave me so much mixed emotions considering on the fact that the sound is "float-y" and cutesy and buried on the sounds are dark lyricsI took it as a story of a girl addicted to cocaine, and about Matty's personal heroin and cocaine use.I think Paris could be a metaphor for being high on heroin rather than the city itself.I was thinking the same thing.
